Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis are two conditions that may be treated with the use of Remicade / Infliximab. Certain forms of arthritis, psoriasis and ankylosing spondylitis are other conditions that may benefit from the use of this drug. These infections may leave you hospitalized and may be fatal. Before you are given this medication, you need to let your doctor know if you have been exposed to tuberculosis, have had opportunistic infections in the past or have a chronic or recurrent infection. The same is true if you have traveled or lived in areas where endemic tuberculosis or endemic mycoses are common. Any other underlying conditions that may increase your risk of infection should also be discussed with your medical professional.

The most common Remicade Side Effects include nausea, upper respiratory tract infection and headache. Infections were the most common of all. Other side effects to be aware of include abdominal pain, diarrhea and dyspepsia. You may suffer from sinusitis, pharyngitis, coughing and bronchitis. If you develop a rash or pruritus, this may be a side effect of the medicine also. Others have reported overall fatigue or pain while a few have reported hypertension or a urinary tract infection. All should be reported to your doctor to see if any changes need to be made to your medication.

Severe Remicade Side Effects that have been seen in less than 2% of patients include overall edema or an allergic reaction. Constipation and intestinal obstruction have also been reported in a small percentage of patients along with hepatitis and dehydration. If you notice any of these, get emergency help immediately and alert your doctor to your need for treatment. He or she can then best determine the proper course of action as it relates to your medication.

When considering the following Remicade Side Effects, you need to remember that your physician has determined that this is the best medication for you. Many don’t have any side effects either. If you do experience any Remicade Side Effects, you will need to base your response on the severity of the effects. Stomach pain, headache and nausea are all common. These are normal. Serious Remicade Side Effects that you need to be aware of are pain and swelling at the injection site, swelling of the feet and ankles or vision changes. Joint and muscle pain, easy bruising or bleeding and seizures also need to be reported to your medical professional immediately. The same is true if you find that you are confused, have a numbness of the arms or legs or chest pain. Report any muscle weakness, butterfly shaped facial rashes, shortness of breath or irregular heartbeats. This may be a fast heartbeat, a slow one or a change in the regular rhythm. Pain, redness and swelling of the arms of the legs is another side effect to be reported.

If you develop any signs of infection, you may be experiencing Remicade Side Effects. Fever, persistent sore throat and painful or frequent urination are just a few that you need to look for. Night sweats, chills, unusual vaginal discharge and oral thrush have also been reported along with a persistent cough and difficult breathing.
